There has been talk about the possibility of having rankings in the Masters Boxing Division for a while but the large age difference has always been a stumbling block in the process. Needless to say, thanks to gentlemen like Victor Melendez who has been persistent on it, I’ve come up with a formula that I think can work. Combining a little bit of the point system USA Boxing uses for National and International tournaments, plus some grouping, we present you, our ranking system. We will test run it in San Diego and kick it off with the New Jersey Tournament. Share your thoughts.
RANKINGS PER AGE
AGE 35 TO AGE 45
AGE 46 TO AGE 55
AGE 56 TO AGE 60
AGE 61 TO AGE 65
AGE 66 TO AGE 70
AGE 70 AND UP
Match ups will still be made with in 10 years and can be mixed with in the age groups. Points will be rewarded according to the point system bellow.
EXAMPLE – a 44 year old is matched up with a 49 year old. They are in two different age groups as far as rankings but match can be made with their points going to their rankings in their respective age group.
